The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has extended
an invitation to AARINENA to attend the Agriculture and Land & Water Use
Commission for the Near East (ALAWUC), second session regional meeting that was
held on 5 to 7 March 2002 in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran.
The
new Commission (ALAWUC) was planned to be held back-to-back with the Regional
Conference every two years. The
first session was held in Beirut in March 2000, and the current was its second
session, held right before the Regional Conference. This session's Agenda was
developed following considerable contacts with FAO Technical Divisions concerned
and the Near East Group of Country Representatives in Rome. AARINENA was
represented by the active participation of Dr. M. Roozitalab in the meeting.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has invited
the President of AARINENA, Dr. Yaghi to attend the Twenty-Sixth FAO Regional
Conference for the Near East that was held at the Azadi Grand Hotel in Tehran
from 9 to 13 March 2002, Islamic Republic of Tehran. The conference started with
a three-day meeting (9-11March) for Senior Offices to be designated by Member
Nations of the Region followed by a Ministerial Meeting on 12 and 13 March 2002.
Executive Council Meeting of Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research, April 16-17, 2002
AARINENA was invited to participate in the second meeting of CGIAR
Executive Council meeting that was supposed to be held at ICARDA, Aleppo on
16-17 April 2002. As a result of government-issued travel warnings, some
Executive Council members would be unable to join the meeting that was to be
held in Syria. Therefore, security issues have required moving the ExCo Meeting
from ICARDA to the Churchill Inter-Continental Hotel, London. Upon the
invitation of the President, he nominated Dr. Roozitalab to represent AARINENA
in the ExCo meeting. But he was unable to attend the meeting, as it was planned,
due to time limits upon the relocation of the meeting.
AOAD 27th General Conference
Dr. Mustafa Yaghi, the President of AARINENA was invited to attend the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development 27th General Conference that was held on 28-30 April in Intercontinental Hotel, Abu-Dhabi, UAE.The President apologized for not being able to attend the meeting and extended his best wishes for a fruitful and successful meeting.
