KISR has vacancies in the following fields:

Fermentation Technology

Major Duties:

To carry out research programs on the development of novel bio-products for enhancing the quality of the environment and the productivity of the agriculture sectors in Kuwait (bioinsecticides, biofertilizer, biopolymers, etc).

Qualifications:

Applicant should have Ph.D in Biochemical or chemical engineering or any other related areas and a minimum ten (10) years of post doctoral experience. A strong background in industrial microbiology and hands-on experience in large scale fermentation and down-stream processing are required. The successful candidate should also have strong leadership, demonstrated skills in proposal writing and ability to attract research funding plus good-quality refereed publications.


Plant Genetic Engineering

Major Duties:

To carry out research programs on the development of novel bioprocesses and bioproducts to enhance the agricultural productivity under arid conditions (abiotic and biotic stress tolerance and value added crops).

Qualifications:

Applicant should have PhD in Plant Molecular Biology or Molecular Genetics and a minimum of ten (10) years of post doctoral experience. A strong and proven background in genetic engineering with hands on experience in gene isolation, gene cloning, vector construction and transgenic techniques. The successful candidate should have strong leadership, demonstrated skills in proposal writing and ability to attract research funding plus good quality refereed publications.

Molecular Diagnostics

Major Duties:

Carrying out multidisciplinary research on molecular diagnostic and molecular pathogenesis of livestock and crops diseases. Conduct molecular studies on bacterial and viral pathogens as well on insect toxins and to develop diagnostic kits.

Qualifications:

Applicant should have PhD in virology or microbiology with proven experience in molecular diagnostic R&D with broad experience in cell culture, genomic, gene silencing and proteomics techniques, strong leadership, ability to attract research funding, project management and staff training are highly desirable.
